BS EN 13141‑7 is the seventh part of the BS EN 13141 multi-series. BS EN 13141‑7 addresses ducted mechanical supply and exhaust residential ventilation units. BS EN 13141‑7 specifies the laboratory test methods and test requirements for the testing of aerodynamic, thermal, acoustic, and electrical performance characteristics of ducted mechanical supply and exhaust residential ventilation units. Such units are referred to as bidirectional ventilation units in BS EN 13142:2021.
BS EN 13141‑7 is applicable to units that contain at least, one or more casing fans for mechanical supply and exhaust, air filters, air-to-air heat exchanger and/or air-to-air heat pump for air heat recovery, control system. Such units can be provided in more than one assembly, the separate assemblies of which are designed to be used together. BS EN 13141‑7 covers ventilation units with the continuous mass flow for each setpoint.
Note 1: BS EN 13141‑7 does not deal with non-ducted units that are treated in prEN 13141-8:2021.
Note 2: BS EN 13141‑7 does not cover ventilation systems that may also provide water space heating and hot water that is treated in EN 16573.
Note 3: BS EN 13141‑7 does not cover units including combustion engine has driven compression heat pumps and absorption heat pumps.
BS EN 13141‑7 on performance testing of residential ventilation systems is applicable to:
Ventilation in buildings is necessary to balance temperature, moisture, odour, and air quality. Issues with ventilation systems can compromise the physical and mental health of building occupants. Testing ensures that ventilation units are able to perform as required.
BS EN 13141‑7 specifies methods for the performance testing of components used in residential ventilation systems to establish performance characteristics. BS EN 13141‑7 provides you with performance testing of ducted mechanical supply and exhaust ventilation units.
The test methods given in BS EN 13141‑7 help you to verify the performance of your ventilation unit components in a laboratory setting. Performance aspects such as internal/external leakage due to pressurization, and performance under different types of climates; are all covered in BS EN 13141‑7.
BS EN 13141‑7 helps you to identify and eliminate all the defects in ventilation systems before they are installed.
BS EN 13141‑7:2021 supersedes BS EN 13141‑7:2010, which is withdrawn. BS EN 13141‑7:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 13141‑7:2010. These include:
