In 2015 BSI published PAS 54115:2015 on the manufacture, import, testing and labelling of vaping products. The market has subsequently moved on such that a technical specification is now more appropriate. Hence the 2015 document has been replaced by PAS 8855:2024 which details best practice for manufacturers and importers in how to supply vaping products to the general public.

- conformity of electronic components with relevant safety standards

PAS 8855:2024 also establishes quantitative criteria that ensure achievable and consistent levels of emissions from vaping systems.
NOTE 1: Compliance with PAS 8855:2024 does not imply a reduced risk status of vaping systems compared to cigarette smoking, nor does it provide a method for assessing the health risks or potential reduced health risks of vaping systems.
NOTE 2: PAS 8855:2024 does not cover any tobacco-containing products, nor nicotine-free products containing cannabidiol. It also does not cover vaping products licensed as medicinal products or medical devices.
