BS EN 847‑2 is the second part of the EN 847 multi-series that discusses safety requirements for woodworking tools.
BS EN 847‑2 specifies the determination of the maximum speed for given eccentricity at clamping devices for the shank strength of milling tools with cylindrical and taper shank. BS EN 847‑2 also specifies the marking of the tool. Bore mounted tools e.g., milling tools, circular saw blades which are mounted on an arbour should be considered as a shank-mounted tool.
BS EN 847‑2 complements BS EN 847-1 and applies also for shank tools with a cutting diameter of less than 16 mm.
Note: BS EN 847‑2 is not applicable for shanks of tools according to this scope, which are manufactured before the date of its publication.
