BS EN 15101 is the first part of the multi-series standard. BS EN 15101 specifies requirements for loose-fill cellulose insulation (LFCI) products for the thermal and/or sound insulation of buildings when installed into walls, floors, galleries, roofs, and ceilings.
Products with a declared thermal conductivity at 10°C greater than 0,060 W/ (m × K) or a declared thermal resistance lower than 0,25 m2 × K/W are not covered in BS EN 15101.
NOTE: BS EN 15101 does not cover factory-made cellulose products placed on the market as bats, mats or boards intended to be used for the insulation of buildings or loose-fill cellulose products for the insulation of building equipment and industrial installations.
BS EN 15101 on specification of thermal insulation products is useful for:
BS EN 15101 gives specification for the loose-fill cellulose insulation (LFCI) products that helps the user in the installation of the specimens, making an efficient heat-retaining surrounding, as confirmed by thermal resistance and thermal conductivity tests. Accuracy of the relationship between temperature and thermal properties is well documented.
Being highly permeable to water vapour, BS EN 15101 helps mitigate this concern through tests that determine the water vapour resistance factor.
Corrosion-resistance, sound-absorption, and durability against fire are some of the parameters considered in BS EN 15101.
BS EN 15101 gives a detailed explanation regarding the procedures involved in testing, marking, labelling and the rules for evaluation of conformity.
Adopt best practices for the construction domain with BS EN 15101, that can be your one-stop guide to ensure optimal thermal and sound insulation for your engineering needs.
