BS EN ISO 29470:2020

What is ISO 29470 about?  

ISO 29470 is an international standard on thermal insulating products for building applications which covers determination of the apparent density.  

ISO 29470 specifies the equipment and procedures for determining the apparent overall density and the apparent core density under reference conditions. ISO 29470 is applicable to full size thermal insulating products and test specimens.  

NOTE: ISO 29470 can also be applied to the individual layers of multi-layered products.

Why should you use ISO 29470? 

Apparent density is used for design calculations because it is the easiest to measure and it gives the actual volume occupied by a particle in a system. The density is determined as the ratio of the mass and the volume of the test specimen.
