ISO 12947-2 is the second part of the multi-series international standard that focuses on the determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method. ISO 12947-2 specifies the procedure for the determination of specimen breakdown (end-point of the test) by inspection at fixed intervals and is applicable to all textile fabrics including nonwovens apart from fabrics where the specifier indicates the end performance as having a low abrasion wear life.
Note-
ISO 12947-2 is not applicable to coated fabrics (including laminated fabrics). If the abrasion behaviour of the coated surface of a coated fabric is to be determined, use the methods described in the various. parts of ISO 5470.
ISO 12947-2 on the textile determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method is useful for:
Fabrics are prone to abrasion so it is important to determination the abrasion resistance of the fabric improve its quality and lifespan.
ISO 12947-2 provides you with apparatus and materials to carry out tests by Martindale method effectively.
ISO 12947-2 guides you on abrasion test procedure that will help you in determination of the physical end-point.
