ISO 139382 is the second part of the ISO 13938 multi-series on bursting properties of fabrics. The burst test technique is used to measure the strength of fabrics and textile materials by providing stress on the material from all directions equally at the same time.
ISO 139382 describes a pneumatic pressure method for the determination of bursting strength and bursting distension of textile fabrics. The method is applicable to knitted, woven, nonwoven, and laminated fabrics. It can be suitable for fabrics produced by other techniques. The test is suitable for test specimens in the conditioned or wet state.
ISO 139382 on bursting properties of fabrics by pneumatic method is useful for:
Bursting strength refers to the force required to break the fabric. ISO 139382 walks you through the test methods with details on principals, sampling, apparatus, and atmospheres for conditioning and testing.
Diaphragm correction has been discussed in detail in ISO 139382. In addition, the wet test has been described in ISO 139382. Using ISO 139382 guidelines you can determine the bursting properties of fabrics and determine their application for products accordingly.
BS EN ISO 139382:2019 supersedes ISO 139382:1999 which has been withdrawn. BS EN ISO 139382:2019 has editorial changes in the normative references section.
