ISO 9405 is an international standard that focuses on the assessment of changes in the appearance of textile floor coverings. ISO 9405 describes the procedures for assessing the overall change in the appearance of textile floor coverings caused by Vettermann drum and hexapod tumbler testers.
ISO 9405 on the assessment of changes in the appearance of textile floor coverings is useful for:
The change in the appearance of a specimen after a process of fatiguing is assessed by visual comparison with standard digital image scales. The degree of change is expressed by a single grade. The dominant factors (change in surface appearance, colour, and/or pattern) of the change are observed and recorded. ISO 9405 ensure that the specimens have been vacuum-cleaned and conditioned following treatment for the production of changes in appearance.
ISO 9405 helps ensure that products, regardless of where they were made, are reliable, safe and of an acceptable level of quality.
BS EN ISO 9405:2017 supersedes BS ISO 9405:2015 and BS EN 1471:1997 which has been withdrawn. BS EN ISO 9405:2017 has been editorially revised.
