BS EN 12350‑3 is the third part of the multi-series standard that discusses the vebe test for testing fresh concrete.
BS EN 12350‑3 specifies a method for determining the consistency of fresh concrete using the Vebe time.
BS EN 12350‑3 on vebe test for fresh concrete is applicable for:
The Vebe test is used to measures how quickly fresh concrete flattens whilst being vibrated. The concrete will consolidate from the vibration. The time taken measured for the whole of the transparent plastic disk to lie in contact with the concrete is measured. This is called the Vebe time.
BS EN 12350‑3 provides you with the process of vebe test as the fresh concrete is compacted into a slump cone. The cone is lifted clear of the concrete and a transparent disc is swung over the top of the concrete and carefully lowered until it comes in contact with the concrete. The slump of the concrete is recorded. The vibrating table is started, and the time taken for the lower surface of the transparent disc to be fully in contact with the grout (the Vebe time), is measured.
BS EN 12350‑3:2019 supersedes BS EN 12350‑3:2009, which is withdrawn. It includes:
