BS EN 12350‑4 is the fourth part of the multi-series standard which discusses the degree of compactability for testing fresh concrete.
BS EN 12350‑4 specifies a method for determining the consistency of fresh concrete by determining the degree of compactability.
Note-
If the degree of compactability is less than 1,04 or more than 1,46, the concrete has a consistency for which the degree of compactability test is not suitable.
BS EN 12350‑4 on the degree of compactability for testing fresh concrete is applicable for:
Concrete is a structural material consisting of a hard, chemically inert particulate substance, known as aggregate (usually sand and gravel), that is bonded together by cement and water.
BS EN 12350‑4 provides you with the procedure for determining the degree of compactability. When the compaction container is full of fresh concrete, the top surface is struck off level with the top of the compaction container. The concrete is compacted by vibration and the distance from the surface of the compacted concrete to the upper edge of the compaction container is used to determine the degree of compactability.
BS EN 12350‑4:2019 supersedes BS EN 12350‑4:2009, which is withdrawn. It includes:
