BS ISO/IEC 18745-2:2021

What is ISO/IEC 18745-2 about?  

ISO/IEC 18745-2 defines the conformance test plan, for the contactless interface of eMRTDs and eMRTD associated readers compliant with ICAO Doc 9303. 

Application requirements for eMRTD and eMRTD reader are outside of ISO/IEC 18745-2 and are defined in ICAO Doc 9303-10. 

Who is ISO/IEC 18745-2 for? 

ISO/IEC 187452  on test methods for machine-readable travel documents (MRTD) and associated devices is useful for: 

• Holder for international travel 
• Airports 
• Custom departments  

Why should you use ISO/IEC 18745-2?  

ISO/IEC 18745-2 represents a necessary step in the process designed to ensure contactless communications interoperability between inspection systems and machine-readable travel documents to be accepted by them.  

The purpose of ISO/IEC 18745-2 is to provide the conformance test plan that needs to be performed to ensure conformity of inspection systems and any machine-readable travel documents in accordance with ICAO Doc 9303. 

What’s changed since the last update?  

BS ISO/IEC 187452:2021 supersedes BS ISO/IEC 187452:2016.

BS ISO/IEC 18745-2:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to BS ISO/IEC 187452:2016 These include: 

• Simplification of the test conditions for PCD in terms of temperature 
• Modification of the loading effect required for eMRTD
