BS EN 1263 is a European standard on temporary works equipment that discusses the safety nets to ensure protection to workers against workplace hazards.
BS EN 1263-2 is the second part of a multi-part series that specifies safety requirements for the positioning of safety nets in accordance with the manufacturer's instruction manual and with the product specifications and for the testing of system S, system T, system U and system V safety nets in accordance with EN 1263-1.
Note: Small safety nets of system S according to EN 1263-1 (less than 35 m2 and 5,0 m on the shortest side) are not dealt with in BS EN 1263-2.
BS EN 1263-2 on the safety requirements for the positioning of safety nets is useful for:
Safety nets for use in construction and other assembly work, e.g., as devices to catch falling persons during the construction of halls and bridges, in open line construction as side protection, as anti-fall devices or devices to catch falling persons on working scaffolds, as side protection for safety scaffolds at roofs and in tunnelling can be chosen as a technically suitable and economic solution to catch persons falling from a height. They serve to protect from deeper falls even when large areas in plan occur.
BS EN 1263-2 provides you guidance with safety requirements, instruction manual, catching width, fall heights and required catching widths, positioning of system safety nets, positioning fixings and deformation of the safety net.
The safety requirements provided by BS EN 1263-2 assist you in improving the safety requirements for safety nets to ensure a reduction in the risk at the workplace.
With obedience and compliance to BS EN 1263-2, you can enhance the efficacy of the safety nets and decrease the fall distance, absorb the energy of a fall, and reduce the likelihood or seriousness of an injury.
BS EN 1263-2:2014 supersedes EN 1263-2:2002, which is withdrawn. BS EN 1263-2:2014 has made some revisions of figures and complete editorial changes as compared to the previous editions EN 1263-2:2002.
