BS EN 61788-12 is a European Standard on superconductivity which is the 12th part of multi-series that describes a test method for determining the copper to non-copper volume ratio of Cu/Nb3Sn wires. The Cu/Nb3Sn wire has a monolithic structure with a round or rectangular cross-section.
The test method given hereunder is applicable to Nb3Sn composite superconducting wires with a cross-sectional area of 0,1 mm2 to 3,0 mm2 and a copper to non-copper volume ratio of 0,1 or more. It does not make any reference to the filament diameter; however, it is not applicable to those superconducting wires with their filament.
This test method may be applied to other composite superconducting wires after some appropriate modifications.
BS EN 61788-12 on copper to non-copper volume ratio is relevant to:
Copper to non-copper volume ratio is the ratio of the volume of the copper stabilizing material to the volume without copper consisting of Cu/Nb3Sn wires.
BS EN 61788-12 provides principles, apparatus, measurement procedure, test procedure, calculation of results, parameters, uncertainty of the test method, and test report which ensures the performance of superconductor volume ratio measurement.
Moreover, the standardized terminology provided by BS EN 61788-12 can eliminate confusion and ambiguity amidst entities involved with superconducting electronic devices.
Overall BS EN 61788-12 can be your guide to ensure that superconducting wires offer high performance for energy resolution, time response, and low noise.
