ISO 4659 specifies:
ISO 4659 on evaluation of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) is useful for:
Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) is known for its water resistance and abrasion resistance properties. SBR is considered to be one of the weaker types of rubber in terms of resistance to heat and oxidation, however, these properties can be enhanced by the introduction of fillers in SBR. Carbon black or a combination of it and oil masterbatches can help you to increase SBRs resistance to abrasion and UV radiations. Carbon black also enhances the strength of SBR.
ISO 4659 provides you with the complete evaluation procedure for SBRs. ISO 4659 provides you with the reference of appropriate documents to evaluate the physical and chemical properties of SBRs. ISO 4659 will also provide you with test method procedures to evaluate whether the physical requirements for SBRs are being met during the vulcanization process. ISO 4659 helps you to verify your SBRs production quality.
BS ISO 4659:2020 replaces ISO 4659:2014, which has been technically revised. The main change in BS ISO 4659:2020 compared to ISO 4659:2014 is that the normative references have been updated in Clause 2, 5.3, 7.1 and 10 e), in particular replacing ISO 247 by ISO 247‑1 and ISO 247‑2.
