BS EN 1337-5 is the fifth part of the BS EN 1337 multi-series that discusses structural bearings.
BS EN 1337-5 applies to pot bearings.
BS EN 1337-5 specifies the requirements for the design and manufacture of pot bearings which will be used for operating temperatures between – 40 °C and 50 °C.
Note: Bearings that are subjected to rotation αd greater than 0,030 rad under the characteristic combination of actions or which incorporate elastomeric pads larger than 1500 mm in diameter are beyond the scope of BS EN 1337-5.
BS EN 1337-5 on pot bearings is useful for:
Pot bearings are a new type of bearings that are comprised of a pot, elastomeric pad, stainless steel plate, sealing ring and other components Pot bearings are designed to withstand the combinations of vertical loads, horizontal loads, longitudinal and transverse displacements and rotations.
BS EN 1337-5 provides you with functional, material, and design requirements for pot bearings. BS EN 1337-5 also provides you with test methods to verify that the bearings meet these requirements. BS EN 1337-5 provides you with dimension tolerances for these bearings which can help you reduce production and project costs without compromising on the quality of pot bearings.
Overall, the guidelines of BS EN 1337-5 enable you to produce or incorporate quality pot bearings with high load-bearing capacities for bridge-building projects.EN 1337-5:2005
