BS EN 17116-4 defines the characteristics of washer-extractors and gives the usual test methods for these characteristics with regard to machine capacity, power consumption and productivity.
BS EN 17116-4 is applicable for use as a reference in the drafting of purchasing orders for washer-extractors whose net usable cage volume is 400 dm3 (litres) respectively 40 kg and above. In addition, it is recommended for the determination of energy consumption and productivity according to Directive 2009/125 EC. Furthermore, BS EN 17116-4 describes standard methods for measuring principal performance characteristics of washer-extractors.
Note: BS EN 17116-4 does not cover safety requirements (see EN ISO 10472-2).
BS EN 17116-4 on washer-extractors is useful for:
A washer-extractors extractor is an electric-powered cleaning machine that uses hot water, detergent, a powered scrub brush, and strong suction to extract deeply embedded dirt.
BS EN 17116-4 specifies the characteristics of a continuous tunnel washer and gives the usual test methods for these characteristics regarding machine capacity, power consumption, and productivity, which helps you while manufacturing continuous tunnel washers considering machine capacity, power consumption, and productivity.
BS EN 17116-4 provides methods for the determination of energy consumption that helps you to manufacture low energy consumption washer-extractors and reduce energy demand, consumption, and operating costs.
BS EN 17116-4:2019 supersedes BS ISO 9398‑4:2003, which is withdrawn. BS EN 17116-4:2019 includes some technical changes with respect to BS ISO 9398‑4:2003. These include:
