BS 2797 specifies requirements for finished leathers for use in diaphragms of gas meters intended for use with natural gas.
Two types of leather are specified.
Type 1. E.I. sheepskin leather, manufactured as described in outline in Appendix A.
Type 2. Split hide leather, manufactured as described in outline in Appendix B.
BS 2797 on specification for leathers for gas meter diaphragms is useful for:
Diaphragm Gas Meters are positive displacement type gas meters that use flow channels designed for low pressure losses. Diaphragm Gas Meters design allows them to measure very small amounts of gas accurately.
BS 2797 provides guidance on requirements, method of manufacture of E.I. sheepskin diaphragm leather (type 1), method of manufacture of split hide diaphragm leather (type 2), procedure for the determination of iron content, Procedure for the determination of shrinkage in boiling water to help you produce the high quality product.
