PD CEN/TR 17448 constitutes the main deliverable from WP1.1 (work package 1.1) of the GP-START project. It specifies thorough review of the metrics defined in EN 16803‑1 and proposes a performance classification for GNSS-based positioning terminals within designed for road applications. It will serve as one of the inputs to the elaboration of prEN 16803‑2:2019 and prEN 16803‑3:2019.
PD CEN/TR 17448 serves as a starting point for discussion within CEN/CENELEC/JTC 5/WG1 on a consolidated set of performance metrics and associated classification logic. The proposals and conclusions appearing in this document are therefore only preliminary.
PD CEN/TR 17448 gives definitions of the various items to be considered when specifying an operational scenario and provides a method to compare two environments with respect to their effects on GNSS positioning performance and describes the architecture of a Road ITS system based on GNSS.
PD CEN/TR 17448 on GNSS-based positioning for road Intelligent Transport System is useful for:
Performances of the PVT (Position, Velocity and Time) information provided by GNSS-Based Positioning Terminal is a key feature that has a direct impact on the reliability and performance of the application itself.
Throughout PD CEN/TR 17448, proposed changes and additions to EN 16803-1 have been written in the form of suggestions to be discussed with CEN/CENELEC/TC5 WG1.
Concrete performance classes have been proposed in PD CEN/TR 17448 for those performance features considered most relevant: horizontal position accuracy, position availability, horizontal protection level, integrity risk, protection level availability.
By following guidelines provided in PD CEN/TR 17448 you will be able to successfully assess the performances of GNSS-based positioning terminals for road Intelligent Transport Systems.CEN/TR 17448
