Separator systems are used in a wide variety of situations to fulfill a number of different requirements. BS EN 858-2 discusses separator systems for light liquids.
BS EN 858-2 is the second part of the multi-series that applies to separator systems used to separate hydrocarbons of mineral origin from wastewater.
Note: BS EN 858-2 does not apply to grease and oils of vegetable or animal origin nor to the separation of emulsions or solutions.
BS EN 858-2 on light liquid separators is useful for:
Light liquid separators are used to treat mineral oil-containing wastewater or as retention devices and thus prevent mineral oils from getting into drainage systems.
BS EN 858-2 provides guidance on the selection of nominal sizes, as well as the installation operation, and maintenance of light liquid separators manufactured in accordance with EN 858-1. BS EN 858-2 also gives advice on the suitability of cleansing agents if they are discharged to a separator.
