BS EN 10216-5 is the fifth part of the EN 10216 multi-series. BS EN 10216-5 specifies the technical delivery conditions in two test categories. BS EN 10216-5 applies to seamless tubes of a circular cross-section made of austenitic (including creep resisting steel) and austenitic-ferritic stainless steel that are intended for pressure and corrosion resisting purposes at room temperature, at low temperatures or elevated temperatures.
Note: BS EN 10216-5 is not applicable to surgical textiles under the Medical Devices Directive nor protective clothing under the PPE Directive.
BS EN 10216-5 on seamless steel tubes is relevant to:
A seamless tube is a tube that does not have any welding seam and are widely used for the purpose of transporting pressurized fluids.
BS EN 10216-5 provide information on the steel making process, tube manufacture and delivery conditions, cast analysis, product analysis, mechanical properties at various temperature, dimensions, masses and tolerances.
Verification test methods such as chemical analysis, tensile test, hydrostatic test, eddy current, ultrasonic test provided in BS EN 10216-5 helps the user to detect defects in products and verify that the product meets the functional, performance, design, and implementation requirements.
The guidance and compliance with BS EN 10216-5 will assists you in manufacturing seamless tubes of top-notch quality and precision that can withstand high pressure.
BS EN 10216-5:2021 supersedes BS EN 10216‑5:2013, which is withdrawn. The following changes have been made in comparison to the previous edition EN 10216-5:2013:
