BS EN 857 is an international standard used for rubber hoses and hose assemblies that specifies the requirements and dimensions of these wire braid reinforced compact types for hydraulic hoses. By using BS EN 857 you can design, manufacture and assemble good quality hydraulic hoses.
BS EN 857 specifies requirements for two types of wire braid reinforced compact hoses and hose assemblies of the nominal bore from 6 to 25, types 1SC and 2SC.
They are suitable for use with:
Note 1: BS EN 857 does not include requirements for end fittings. It is limited to the performance of hoses and hose assemblies.
Note 2: The hoses are not suitable for use with castor oil-based or ester-based fluids.
Note 3: Hoses and hose assemblies are not be operated outside the limits of this standard.
Note 4: Requirements for hydraulic hoses for underground mining are standardised in separate standards
BS EN 857 on Rubber hoses and hose assemblies is useful for:
Hydraulic hoses are useful in transporting oil or water-based liquids.
By using BS EN 857 you can classify these hydraulic hoses according to their operational requirements. With the help of requirements mentioned in BS EN 857, you can identify the defects or failures in these wire braid reinforced compact type hydraulic hoses. The materials and dimensions specified are useful in designing, constructing and assembling these hoses.
By applying BS EN 857 guidelines, you can ensure the resistivity of fluids that results in manufacturing and assembling good quality wire braid reinforced compact type hydraulic hoses.
BS EN 857:2015 supersedes BS EN 857:1997. BS EN 857:2015 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 857:1997. These include:
