BS EN 854 is an international standard on rubber hoses and hose assemblies that specifies the dimension and types of these textile reinforced hydraulic hoses. By using BS EN 854 you can design, manufacture and assemble good quality hydraulic hoses.
BS EN 854 specifies requirements for three types of textile reinforced rubber hoses and hose assemblies of the nominal bore from 5 to 100. The types are defined in Clause 3.
They are suitable for use with:
Note1: BS EN 854 does not include requirements for end fittings. It is limited to the performance of hoses and hose assemblies.
Note 2: The hoses are not suitable for use with castor oil-based and ester-based fluids.
Note 3: Hoses and hose assemblies are not be operated outside the limits of this standard.
Note 4: Requirements for hydraulic hoses for underground mining are standardized in separate standards.
BS EN 854 on rubber hoses and hose assemblies is useful for:
Hydraulic hoses are useful in transporting oil or water-based liquids from one location to another.
By using BS EN 854, you can classify the textile reinforced hydraulic hoses according to their operational requirements. With the help of the requirements mentioned in BS EN 854, you can identify the defects or failures in these hoses. The materials and dimensions specified are useful in designing, constructing, and manufacturing these hydraulic hoses.
By applying BS EN 854, you can ensure the resistivity of fluids that results in manufacturing and assembling good quality textile reinforced hydraulic hoses.
BS EN 854:2015 supersedes BS EN 854:1997. BS EN 854:2015 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 854:1997. These include:
