BS ISO 12614-4:2021

What is ISO 12614‑4 about?  

ISO 12614‑4 is part four of the multi-series standard on the manual valve which is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel system component. 

ISO 12614‑4 specifies tests and requirements for the manual valve, a liquefied natural gas fuel system component intended for use on the types of motor vehicles defined in ISO 3833. 

NOTE- 

ISO 12614‑4 is not applicable to the following: 

• Fuel containers 
• Stationary gas engines 
• Container mounting hardware 
• Electronic fuel management 
• Refuelling receptacles 

Who is ISO 12614‑4 for? 

ISO 12614‑4 on the manual valve is applicable to: 

• Manufacturers of LNG vehicles 
• Manufacturers of manual valves 
• Vehicle regulatory authorities  
• Vehicle repair shops 

Why should you use ISO 12614‑4?  

Good quality fuel system components are very important for the efficient functioning of an LNG vehicle. ISO 12614‑4 gives you guidelines for the construction of manual valves. The guidelines include the materials to be used and the method for assembly of those materials. This will help you manufacture durable fuel system components. 

ISO 12614‑4 provides marking instructions on manual valves. The markings will help in identifying and tracing manual valves. 

ISO 12614‑4 provides tests to check the hydraulic strength and leakage and continued operation of manual valves.  The tests enable you to measure  the strength of the manual valves. 

What’s changed since the last update?  

BS ISO 12614‑4:2021 edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 12614‑4:2014), which has been technically revised.
