BS EN 1794‑2 is the second part of the multi-series that is applicable to the road traffic noise reducing devices for non-acoustic performance.
BS EN 1794‑2 specifies methods and criteria for assessing the general safety and environmental performance of road traffic noise reducing devices under typical roadside conditions. Appropriate test methods are provided where these are necessary.

While performing their primary function, road traffic noise reducing devices should not pose hazards to road users or other people in the vicinity or to the environment at large. Noise-reducing devices should not reflect light in such a way as to prejudice road safety.
In this regard, BS EN 1794-2 provides methods and criteria to assess performance of road traffic noise reducing devices under typical roadside conditions.
Noise-reducing devices that comply with BS EN 1794-2 shall provide a method of escape for road users as well as access for employees in the event of an emergency or for maintenance. BS EN 1794-2 also ensures product failure from collapse/detachment is prevented with fastening requirements, thus minimising the risk of injury for road-users.
BS EN 1794‑2:2020 supersedes BS EN 1794‑2:2011, which is withdrawn. The main change compared to the previous edition is:
