What is ISO 10581 about?  

ISO 10581 international standard discusses specifications of homogeneous poly (vinyl chloride) floor covering. ISO 10581 specifies the characteristics of homogeneous floor coverings, based on poly (vinyl chloride), supplied in either tile or roll form. Products can contain a transparent, non-PVC factory finish. 

To encourage the consumer to make an informed choice, ISO 10581 also includes a classification system based on the intensity of use, which shows where these floor coverings give satisfactory service. ISO 10581 also specifies requirements for marking.

What is changed since the last update?  

ISO 10581:2020 supersedes ISO 10581:2013, which is withdrawn. ISO 10581:2020 includes some technical changes with respect to ISO 10581:2013. These include: 

• Class 22+ was eliminated 
• The Level of use descriptions in table 3 were revised for Classes 21 and 22
