BS EN 63024 is an international standard that covers guidelines for circuit-breakers, RCBOs-RCCBs, and their components.
BS EN 63024 applies to automatic reclosing devices (ARDs) for household and similar uses, for a rated voltage not exceeding 440 V AC, and which are intended to be used in combination with circuit-breakers, RCCBs, and RCBOs, and designed either for factory assembly or for assembly on site.
The devices given in BS EN 63024 are intended to reclose main protective devices (MPDs) such as circuit-breakers, RCCBs, and RCBOs after tripping of those devices in order to re-establish continuity of service.
BS EN 63024 includes the following types of ARDs:
Note 1: BS EN 63024 does not apply to ARDs with multiple settings adjustable by means accessible to the user in normal service.
Note 2: Devices covered by BS EN 63024 are intended to be suitable for operation by uninstructed persons without the need for maintenance.
BS EN 63024 on automatic reclosing devices is useful for:
Automatic reclosing devices (ARDs) are designed to reclose circuit-breakers, RCBOs, and RCCBs after tripping in order to re-establish continuity of service.
BS EN 63024 gives you technical specifications like characteristics, requirements for construction and operation as well as the classification for automatic reclosing devices, which helps you to design and manufacture the standardized automatic reclosing devices.
BS EN 63024 provides you with various test methods and provisions for the protection of the device, to ensure the safety of automatic reclosing devices according to equipment intended for use. It also helps you with the selection of appropriate automatic reclosers suitable for the required circuit-breakers, RCBOs-RCCBs purpose, and environment.
BS EN 63024:2018 supersedes BS EN 50557:2011, which is withdrawn.
