BS EN 61702 discusses rating of direct coupled photovoltaic (PV) pumping systems. BS EN 61702 defines predicted short-term characteristics (instantaneous and for a typical daily period) of direct coupled photovoltaic (PV) water pumping systems.
The parameters defining the photovoltaic power generating system (PVPGS) and the standard days, used to provide data should be in accordance with IEC standards.
Note: BS EN 61702 does not address PV pumping systems with batteries.
BS EN 61702 on rating of direct coupled photovoltaic is useful for:
Direct coupled photovoltaic (PV) pumping systems are clearly suitable for low head irrigation in the remote areas, not connected to the national grid and where access to water comes as first priority issue than access to technology. The system operates without battery and complex electronic control, therefore not only the initial cost is low but also maintenance, repairing and replacement cost can be saved.
BS EN 61702 discusses short-term predicted characteristics, onsite tests, performance requirements of direct coupled photovoltaic (PV) pumping systems.
BS EN 61702 defines minimum actual performance values to be obtained on-site.
