BS EN 13272 discusses railway applications. BS EN 13272‑1 is the first part of the BS EN 13272 multi-series and discusses electrical lighting in heavy rail. Heavy rail is an electric railway on devoted rights-of-way that handles many passengers at once.
BS EN 13272‑1 sets out the requirements and recommendations for interior electrical lighting systems for heavy rail units. BS EN 13272‑1 applies only to new units. The application of BS EN 13272‑1 for retrofitting of existing units is subject to agreement between contractors. BS EN 13272‑1 also defines the requirements for testing and conformity assessment.
