What’s changed since the last update?

The published document has been fully updated in line with the 2017 edition of BS 5839-1, with all queries and answers revised accordingly. Specifically this update:

  • Incorporates a technical commentary, written by the chairman of the drafting panel
  • Includes guidance on the presence of fire alarm systems in common parts of blocks of flats
  • Answers questions regarding distances between fire detectors and walls or partitions, and simulation of fault conditions
