BS EN ISO 3834-5:2021

What is ISO 3834‑5 about? 

ISO 3834‑5 is one of the parts of a multi-standard specifies the International Standards, including clauses and subclauses, with which conformity to the quality requirements of ISO 3834-2, ISO 3834-3 or ISO 3834-4 can be claimed. 

ISO 3834-5 outlines the documents using which the user can claim conformity with quality requirements.

Why should you use ISO 3834‑5? 

Standardization in welding procedures is becoming more and more important due to the increasing quality and performance standards. As part of the series, ISO 38345 helps control the cost of manufacture and the quality of products, and to ensure sound, effective and efficient manufacture. 

ISO 3834-5 helps internal and external organizations, including certification bodies, to assess a manufacturer’s ability to meet customer, regulatory or the manufacturer’s own requirements and helps manufacturers demonstrate their capability. 

ISO 3834-5 provides design considerations for welding joints, which can assist design engineers in creating well-designed products. Compliance with the standards informs customers that the quality and performance of the products are the best in industry. 

What’s changed since the last update? 

BS EN ISO 3834‑5:2021 supersedes BS EN ISO 3834‑5:2015, which is withdrawn. 

The technical changes compared to the previous edition are as follows: 

• Annex A has been deleted 
• The list of welding processes has been expanded, e.g., laser-arc hybrid welding 
• Normative references have been moved to the bibliography as none are referenced normatively in the document.
