This two-part PAS is designed to help anyone placing products on the consumer market to comply with product safety legislation. PAS 7100:2022 looks at the processes, procedures, roles and responsibilities associated with executing product recalls and other corrective actions.
Part I is intended for businesses, including manufacturers, designers, importers, distributors, repairers, refurbishers and the operators of online marketplaces for consumer products.
Part II is intended for regulators that support businesses with meeting the guidance in Part I and the implementation of a product safety incident plan (PSIP).
Part 1 sets out a code of practice for businesses, providing practical guidance to help them:
Part 2 is a code of practice for regulators covering how they can monitor incidents, support businesses in the preparation of a product safety incident plan (PSIP), support businesses in monitoring incidents, and respond proportionately where businesses fail to take appropriate action.
NOTE: The PAS applies to all new and second-hand non-food consumer products including products for hire and loan. Non-food consumer products include those intended for consumers or likely, under reasonably foreseeable conditions, to be used by consumers even if use by them is not intended.
