What is ISO 11125-7- Metallic blast-cleaning abrasives about?  

ISO 11125 discusses test methods for metallic blast-cleaning abrasives. ISO 11125-7 is the seventh part of ISO 11125 and discusses the determination of moisture and dealing with the sampling and testing of metallic abrasives for blast cleaning.  

The types of metallic abrasive and requirements for each are contained in the various parts of ISO 11124. The ISO 11124 and ISO 11125 series have been drafted as a coherent set of International Standards on metallic blast-cleaning abrasives.

Over the years, entrained moisture in compressed air systems has caused numerous problems in the blasting industry, including clogged hoses, ruined abrasive, flash rusting, lost production time, and increased material costs. 

 ISO 11125-7 specifies a test method for the determination of the level of free moisture present in metallic blast-cleaning abrasives.  

ISO 11125-7 is determined by measuring the mass lost on heating. 

What’s changed since the last update?  

BS EN ISO 11125-7:2018 supersedes BS EN ISO 11125-7:1997, which is withdrawn. BS EN ISO 11125-7:2018 includes a technical change with respect to BS EN ISO 11125-7:1997. These include:
