BS EN 16842‑4 specifies the requirements and test procedures for 360° visibility of sit-on self-propelled industrial variable-reach trucks without a load, with a capacity up to and including 10 000 kg by ISO 5053-1 and it is intended to be used in conjunction with EN 16842-1.

Industrial variable reach trucks can sometimes cause accidents resulting in injury, damages to the truck, buildings, and goods at the workplace. As a result, it is important to undergo certain visibility tests to reduce chances of hazardous events.
BS EN 16842‑4 deals with all significant hazards, and hazardous situations relevant to the visibility of the operator for applicable machines when used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are foreseeable by the manufacturer.
Note: BS EN 16842‑4 does not apply to rough-terrain variable-reach trucks.
