BS EN 1176 discusses playground equipment and surfacing. BS EN 1176‑7 is the seventh part of the multi-series on playground equipment and surfacing safety. BS EN 1176‑7 gives you guidance on installation, inspection, maintenance, and operation of playground equipment.
BS EN 1176‑7 applies to playground equipment, surfacing and ancillary items, for example, gates, fences, benches, bins, shades, etc.
Note 1: The scope of the inspection and inclusion of the ancillary items will vary individually.
Note 2: Ancillary items are not included in the specific equipment-type parts of the EN 1176 series; hence they are not assessed for compliance with EN 1176 series and are subject to risk assessment
BS EN 1176‑7 on playground equipment and the surfacing is useful for:

If safety guidelines are not followed, this presents an unacceptable risk to those who access and use playground equipment.
BS EN 1176‑7 establishes guidance on the installation, inspection, maintenance, and operation of playground equipment and surfacing around the equipment. BS EN 1176‑7 can be used by playground operators to assist them in developing an inspection and maintenance regime for each playground. These are steps towards playground safety and safeguarding our children.
BS EN 1176‑7:2020 supersedes BS EN 1176‑7:2008, which is withdrawn.
