BS EN 1176‑4 discusses playground equipment and surfacing with a focus on general safety requirements and test methods. BS EN 1176‑4 is the fourth part of the BS EN 1176 multi-series that is applicable to cableways whereby children travel along a cable by the use of gravity. 

BS EN 1176‑4 specifies additional safety requirements for cableways intended for permanent installation for use by children.

What’s changed since the last update?  

BS EN 1176‑4:2017 supersedes EN 1176‑4:2017, which is withdrawn. BS EN 1176‑4:2017 includes some technical changes with respect to EN 1176‑4:2017.  These include: 

• Finger test for traveller was added 
• Ground clearance requirement for seating type was changed 
• Test weight was changed
