What is PD CEN/TS 1852‑2 – Polypropylene (PP) plastics piping systems about?   

PD CEN/TS 1852‑2 is a standard that discusses PP plastic piping systems. 

PD CEN/TS 1852‑2 is the second part in the multi-series that is applicable to the plastics piping systems for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage. It details best practices to establish efficient quality management systems for drainage and sewerage pipework. 

PD CEN/TS 1852‑2 gives guidance for the assessment of conformity of materials, products, joints, and assemblies in accordance with the applicable part(s) of EN 1852 intended to be included in the manufacturer’s quality plan as part of the quality management system and for the establishment of certification procedures. 

In conjunction with EN 1852-1, this document is applicable to solid wall piping systems made of polypropylene (PP) is intended to be used for: 

• Non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage outside the building structure (application area code “U”) 
• Non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage for both buried in ground within the building structure (application area code “D”) and outside the building structure 

Note: The quality management system is expected to conform to or be no less stringent than the relevant requirements in EN ISO 9001. 

Note: If third-party certification is involved, the certification body is expected to be accredited to EN ISO/IEC 17065 [2] or EN ISO/IEC 17021, as applicable.
