BS EN 12013 is an international standard used for plastic and rubber machines that specifies the safety requirements for internal mixers which are hazardous to your while manufacturing the product.
BS EN 12013 deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations or hazardous events relevant to the design and construction of internal mixers during all phases of the machine life cycle (see EN ISO 12100:2010, 5.4), irrespective of their size and of the control modes of the feeding door and discharge door, for production and laboratory applications, when the machines are used as intended and under the conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see Annex A).
Note: Internal mixers usually do not produce explosive atmospheres. Where materials are processed, which may cause an explosive atmosphere, the Directive 2014/34/EU on the Equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX) can be applied.
Note: BS EN 12013 is not applicable to internal mixers manufactured before the date of its publication.
BS EN 12013 on Plastics and rubber machines is useful for:
The internal mixture consists of a chamber that is useful in adding the compounded ingredients. The shear forces generated in the chamber helps in producing the uniformity and quality of the products.
BS EN 12013 helps in designing the emergency stop devices that are useful in stopping the machines before harming someone. The mechanical hazards specified in BS EN 12013 is useful for you in designing and constructing the machines in such a way that safety is considered while producing the product. This BS EN 12013 helps in preventing uncontrolled pressurised fluids by designing and assembling the hoses and considering the hazards while designing the hoses. With the help of BS EN 12013, you can avoid the electrical, thermal and fire hazards in manufacturing the products. This ensures the safety of your health as well as the environment. The information is provided in BS EN 12013 is useful for you in assembling the machines without creating any hazards.
BS EN 12013 specifies the safety requirements for internal mixers used for manufacturing rubber and plastic products. This BS EN 12013 can be your best guide in designing and constructing the machines which help in providing your safety while manufacturing the products and this leads in preventing hazardous events that can take place in industries.
BS EN 12013:2018 supersedes BS EN 12013:2000+A1:2008. BS EN 12013:2018 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 12013:2000+A1:2008. These include:
