BS EN 50341-2-19 is a part of the BS EN 50341 series of European standards that discusses the national normative aspects for CZECH republic for overhead electrical lines exceeding AC 1 kV. Overhead lines or overhead wires are used to transmit electrical energy to trams, trolleybuses and trains.
BS EN 50341-2-19 specifies the new overhead line is considered a brand new electric overhead line with nominal voltage exceeding 1 kV AC, between points A and B. The new branch line of the existing overhead line is considered a new overhead line except for junction support for which the specific requirements are defined in the Project Specification.
The extent of application of BS EN 50341-2-19 in respect of reconstruction, relaying and extension of existing overhead lines is determined in the Project Specification. Simultaneously, the Project Specification determine, which of the previous national standards shall be used and to what extent they are used for the project in question.
BS EN 50341-2-19 on overhead electrical line applies to:
Overhead lines or overhead wires are used to transmit electrical energy to trams, trolleybuses and trains. Overhead lines are designed on the principle of one or more overhead wires situated over rail tracks. Feeder stations at regular intervals along with the overhead line supply power from the high-voltage grid.
BS EN 50341-2-19 provides you with the guidance of structural factor for conductors where the insulator sets on suspension support to allow for equalizing the conductor tensions in adjacent spans, structural factor Gc for conductors when calculating conductor tensions in a line section under wind load.
BS EN 50341-2-19 gives you the requirements for construction and maintenance loads which is specified in the project specification that helps you in safety load for overhead electrical lines.
