Occupational Health and Safety Solution pack

How important is OH&S management?

The World Health Organization estimates that every year, around 2 million people die from work related causes – either accidents, or work-related disease. Aside from the toll in human misery, it makes business sense to tackle occupational health and safety (OH&S) systematically. As well as the risk of regulatory penalties, poor OH&S leads to a litany of problems from disruption, downtime and extra costs to poor morale and a high staff turnover.

Conversely, organizations that adopt best practice in OH&S have a lot to gain, including lower insurance premiums and a more motivated and productive workforce. OH&S is also a component of social responsibility, so formal OH&S management is a way to demonstrate your organization’s commitment to the ESG agenda and UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 on ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages.
