BS EN ISO 11666:2010 looks at the non-destructive testing of welds. This includes ultrasonic testing to specify acceptance levels for full penetration welded joints in ferritic steels. The standard gives practical recommendations to help users examine ferritic steel welds with thicknesses from 8mm to 100mm, but can also be used for other types of welds, materials and thicknesses above 100mm. The nominal frequency of probes used in BS EN ISO 11666: 2010 is between 2 MHz and 5 MHz.
BS EN ISO 11666:2010 first specifies the measurement of indication length, before defining sensitivity settings and levels. This standard then explains acceptance levels and looks at longitudinal and transverse indications, as well as the grouping of these indications.
