ISO/TR 17327-2 is the second part of a series of documents. ISO/TR 17327-2 provides lists of reference standards which contain general information, implant device or application-specific information, material specifications, or test methods related to coatings. These reference standards can be used to develop product coatings for specified applications when using ISO 1732711 to address general coating requirements.
ISO/TR 17327-2 identifies International Standards and national documents that address requirements for specific coating/substrate/product combinations. These reference standards contain guidance on assessing and addressing the general coating requirements described in ISO 17327-1.
ISO/TR 17327-2 is applicable to coatings on non-active surgical implants.
ISO/TR 17327-2 on non-active surgical implants is applicable to:
ISO/TR 17327-2 provides general information, implant device or application-specific information, material specifications, or test methods related to coatings applied to non-active surgical implants which improve their efficiency and durability.
Implant coatings serve several purposes and come in a wide range of thicknesses, compositions, densities, and other properties and characteristics. Depending on the desired function, the selection of an implant coating is an important aspect of the device's overall design and performance requirements.
The combination of ISO/TR 17327-2 and ISO 17327-1 provides guidance for the development of implant coatings based on their function and application.
