BS EN 13183-1 discusses components for gas extinguishing systems. The aim of the BS EN 13183-1 series is to ensure the correct operation of gas extinguishing systems by providing the manufacturer with requirements and test methods for non-electrical automatic control and delay devices to avoid any hazardous situation. BS EN 13183-1 is the first of part of the BS EN 13183 series of standards that defines the method for determining the moisture content of a piece of sawn timber. This method is considered as the reference method.
BS EN 13183-1 applies to sawn timber, and timber which has been planned or mechanically surfaced by other means.
BS EN 13183-1 on sawn timber is useful for:
Changes in wood moisture content lead to changes in virtually all physical and mechanical properties (e.g. strength and stiffness properties) of wood. So it is important to know the moisture content of any wood.
BS EN 13183-1 provides an oven dry method to test the moisture content. BS EN 13183-1 covers apparatus, procedure, calculation, and expression of the results. This ensures the most accurate and reliable method of determining the moisture content (MC) of sawn timber at any moisture content.
