BS EN 60107-8 discusses recommended methods of measurement on receivers for television broadcast transmissions with a focus on measurements on D2-MAC/packet equipment. BS EN 60107-8 is the eighth part of the multi-series on recommended methods of measurement on receivers for television broadcast transmissions that defines quality parameters and provide a guideline for measurement on D2-MAC/packet equipment, under uniform and repetitive conditions.
The D2-MAC/packet process is specified in EBU SPB 489. The specifications of the limit values of the various parameters of the equipment are outside the scope of BS EN 60107-8; however theoretical curves and references are provided which could be used as a guide for the presentation of measurement results.
The characterization of signal performances at the radiofrequency interface is difficult to specify and measure; however, correlation elements between RF measurement and baseband measurement are given in BS EN 60107-8. Relations between subjective quality assessment and objective measurement of parameters are developed in BS EN 60107-8.
BS EN 60107-8 on recommended methods of measurement on receivers for television broadcast transmissions is useful for:
BS EN 60107-8 provides a measurement that consists of searching for the internal envelope(s) of the eye diagram corresponding to a given bit error ratio.
BS EN 60107-8 discusses measurements, video signal measurement, distortion measurements using test lines, distortion measurements not feasible with test lines, noise measurements, and measurement methods on the data signal. This will help you to measure D2-MAC/packet equipment performance.
