ISO 12004‑1 is the first part of the ISO 12004 series on documents on metallic material. ISO 12004-1 is an international standard on the measurement and application of forming-limit diagrams in the press shop to determine forming limit of a material.
ISO 12004‑1 specifies a procedure for developing forming-limit diagrams and forming-limit curves for metal sheets and strips of thicknesses from 0.3 mm to 4 mm.
ISO 12004‑1 on limit curves for metal sheets and strips is applicable to:
A forming-limit diagram (FLD) contains measured major/minor strain points on a formed part. Forming-limit curve (FLC) is transition from safe to failed points. They are essential to distinguish between safe and necked or failed, points which helps in assessment of quality of the materials.
ISO 12004‑1 provides you with the information on principle, test conditions, procedure, interpretation of results, test report, modification to forming-limit curves and more.
The procedures and test conditions provided by ISO 12004‑1 help you to enhance the stability and toughness of metal sheets and strips.
BS EN ISO 12004‑1:2020 supersedes BS EN ISO 12004‑1:2008, which is now withdrawn.
