BS EN ISO 6506-2 is  part of the ISO 6506 series of standards that specify a method of verification and calibration for testing machines used for determining Brinell hardness in accordance with ISO 6506-1. It specifies a direct method for checking the main functions of machine operation and an indirect method suitable for the overall checking of the machine.

BS EN ISO 6506 Part 2 draws attention to the fact that only the use of the hardmetal ball indenter is specified. It is also applicable to portable hardness testing machines.

History and related standards

BS EN ISO 6506-2 supersedes BS EN ISO 6506-2:1999 which is withdrawn.
