BS EN 455-2 is the second part of an international multi-series standard that discusses the properties of medical gloves for single use.
BS EN 455-2 outlines requirements and gives test methods for physical properties of single-use medical gloves (i.e., surgical gloves and examination/procedure gloves) to ensure that they provide and maintain in use an adequate level of protection from cross-contamination for both patient and user.
BS EN 455-2 specifies technicalities for the medical gloves such as related terms and definitions, dimensions, general requirements, length, width, strength, force at break, concluding test report and labelling.
Note: BS EN 455-2 does not specify the size of a lot.
BS EN 455-2 on Medical gloves for single use is useful for:
Medical-surgical single-use gloves are sterile, anatomically shaped medical gloves with the thumb positioned towards the palmar surface of the index finger rather than lying flat, and intended for use during an invasive surgery in the medical field, to protect patient and user from cross-contamination.
BS EN 455-2 guidelines assist you with technicalities that should be taken care of, such as dimensions, lengths, width, strength, etc., for manufacturing high-quality and reliable medical gloves for single use.
BS EN 455-2 provides you with guidance on checking the force at break and force at the break after a challenge that helps you estimate the capability and robustness of the medical gloves for single use. It enables the users to conclude and state test reports, as well as label the medical gloves for single use accordingly.
This will help the users standardize the quality of medical gloves for single use and ensure the safety of patients and users by avoiding cross-contamination.
BS EN 455-2:2015 supersedes EN 455-2:2009+A2:2013, which is withdrawn. BS EN 455-2:2015 has some technical changes with respect to EN 455-2:2009+A2:2013. These includes:
