What is this standard about?

It gives recommendations for geotechnical activities associated with the design and implementation of maritime works.

Who is this standard for?

BS 6349-5 will be useful for anyone involved in the maritime industry and geotechnical design such as:

  • Geotechnical specialists
  • Designers
  • Engineers
  • Environmental specialists

Why should you use this standard?

It gives guidance on up-to-date site investigation and geotechnical design methods plus additional advice on testing procedures and typical ground properties.

What’s changed since the last update?

A full revision of BS 6349-1:2000 was undertaken and the principal change was to split the document into four smaller parts. Part 3 covers geotechnical design, with the principal change being that the document has been edited to be compatible with relevant Eurocodes.

NOTE: Together with BS 6349-1-1, BS 6349-1-2 and BS 6349-1-4, this part of BS 6349 superseded BS 6349-1:2000, which has been withdrawn.
