The second of two parts, PAS 2012-2:2025 details the information that a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) retailer should provide to a potential WAV purchaser.
PAS 2012-2:2025 specifies requirements for the retail of WAVs that conform to PAS 2012-1:2025. It covers requirements for:
a) the supply of product information to the user;
b) the provision of user demonstrations;
c) suitability assessment reports;
d) warranty information;
e) customer records; and
f) user manual.
It ensures that WAV purchasers have the necessary product information and reassurance that the product will be safe, suitable and durable.
PAS 2012-2:2025 will supersede PAS 2012-2:2019 which will be withdrawn on 31 August 2027. In comparison with the previous edition, the following changes have been made:
a) new requirements regarding the user manual have been provided as well as information regarding accessibility of information for the customer;
b) the warranty requirements have been moved to PAS 2012-2 and new requirements have been added for additional warranties provided by the retailer, rather than the WAV manufacturer. New requirements for the provision of repair and maintenance services have been added;
c) requirements regarding the provision to the wheelchair user of codes for keys (and wheel keys) have been added, along with any security codes for remotely controlled features on the WAV, and also a requirement to provide the vehicle registration number;
d) an informative annex has been added that illustrates an example suitability assessment report.
