BS EN 62722-2-1 is an international standard of the BS EN 62722 series that discusses the requirements for LED luminaires for luminaire performance. A luminaire is a complete lighting unit, comprised of a light source (lamp or lamps), together with the parts that distribute the light, position and protect the lamps, and connect the lamps to the power supply. The luminaire's function is to direct light to appropriate locations, without causing glare or discomfort.
BS EN 62722-2-1 specifies the performance requirements for LED luminaires, together with the test methods and conditions, required to show compliance with this standard. It applies to LED luminaires for general lighting purposes.
Note: BS EN 62722-2-1 does not cover Type C luminaires.
Note: BS EN 62722-2-1 does not cover LED luminaires that intentionally produce coloured light, nor does it cover luminaires using OLEDs (organic LEDs).
BS EN 62722-2-1 on luminaire performance applies to:
Luminaire efficiency is a ratio of the luminaire’s total luminous flux versus its input power at rated supply voltage, excluding any emergency lighting charging power.
The provisions in BS EN 62722-2-1 represent the technical knowledge of experts from the fields of the semiconductor (LED chip) industry and of those of the traditional electrical light sources and luminaires.
BS EN 62722-2-1 provides you with the guidance on LED luminaire luminous efficacy which is calculated from the measured initial luminous flux of LED luminaire divided by the measured initial input power of the luminaire.
BS EN 62722-2-1 provides you with comprehensive guidance useful for the requirements of LED luminaires for luminaire performance.
BS EN 62722-2-1:2016 supersedes DD IEC/PAS 62722-2-1:2011, which is withdrawn. It includes:
