What is ISO 17130 about?  

ISO 17130 specifies a method of determining the dimensional change (shrinkage) of leathers caused by aging. 

ISO 17130 is applicable to all leathers.

Why should you use ISO 17130?  

Aging causes a decline in the performance properties of leathers and a loss of value over time. This degradation brings a reduction in the quality of leather products and causes customer dissatisfaction. ISO 17130 specifies a method of determining the dimensional change (shrinkage) of leathers caused by aging. 

ISO 17130 helps you determine the dimensional change of leather and improve the quality of the leather as per the needs of the customers and it will lead to improving the quality of the leather. 

What’s changed since the last update?  

BS EN ISO 17130:2021 supersedes ISO 17130:2013. BS EN ISO 17130:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to ISO 17130:2013. These include: 

• New terms and definitions are added 
• Support and Indelible marker or needle have been revised to allow additional support and an additional marking technique, respectively 
• Sampling and sample preparation have been revised to give a better understanding 
• Procedure has been revised 
• A new Test report requires the sample size to be reported
